An article published by the Washington Examiner Thursday served as a powerful reminder of just how wealthy our pro-abortion opponents are and just how much their money talks to pro-abortion politicians.
Tuesday night President Obama participating in yet another fundraising dinner which cost attendees $30,000 per plate. In attendance was Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards.
This is not surprising. This is the same women who stood beside Obama when he declared, “In my mind, reproductive care is essential care. It is basic care” to justify including abortion in his plan for health care “reform” which included additional streams of governmental funding for the abortion giant.
This relationship is also based on the fact that groups such as Planned Parenthood (and for that matter other groups who would consider the taking of human life to be “care”) use massive amounts of money to ensure that pro-abortion candidates like Obama stay in office to ensure that abortion is considered “essential care” and continues to be funded by the millions in government funding.
Consider a 2004 article from the New York Times. Reporter Glen Justice profiled one of EMILY’s List founders, Ellen Malcolm, a woman unafraid to ask wealthy pro-abortion people for up to $10 million at a time. EMILY’s LIST underwrites only the most militantly pro-abortion female Democratic candidates.
Justice quotes Hillary Clinton, who said of Malcolm she is “probably the most influential fund-raiser and adviser we’ve seen…I don’t know anybody who can match her track record.”
This woman helped build and continues to help fund a group who blows through Millions upon Millions of dollars to support candidates based solely on their desire to keep abortion legal and publicly funded.
We are up against a well-funded, well-connected machine. Nonetheless, what gives me an incredibly warm feeling is that despite the odds, the pro-life movement has REAL people power. Boots on the ground can combat any amount of incredible wealth. And I for one will take the sincere desire to defend innocent human life over the group of friends money buys for the abortion industry six days a week and twice on Sunday.
There’s no question about it, Luis is absolutely bang on the money. The pro-abortion lobby came into its own when it was spawned from the Socialist, Communist movement back in the late sixties and early seventies. Aim to write more about the abortion lobby’s history shortly.
